Pantanos de Villa, un oasis natural en el desierto limeño / Marshes of Villa, a natural oasis in the Lima desert

A combination of geographic and climatic factors made the Peruvian coast desert. It is said that Lima is the second largest city in the world built in a desert, after Cairo, Egypt. This desert is not totally arid, because it is cut by some fertile valleys formed by the rivers that descend from the Andes Mountains and numerous wetlands formed by the outcrop of groundwater.

One of these wetlands is the Villa Wetlands Natural Reserve, located 30 minutes south of Lima.
